Favorite outdoor memory from growing up?
I have far too many outdoor memories to pick one. But I grew up in Cambodia with lots of waterfalls. My excitement never cease when we go on family vacations into the woods, have a family picnic with grandma’s foods, and trying to swim in the waterfall. Then I would get yelled at by my grandma because I can’t swim.
What is your spirit animal and why?
My spirit animal is an Otter. Because I aspire to be as fluffy and adorable as they are. Also they hold hands while they sleep, the child sleep on top of the mama as she floats around aimlessly, enjoying life. I envy them.
To stay in Greece. I studied a lot of Greek mythology as a young kid (not by choice) and I am in love with Greek art. Every piece tells an elaborate story that can be traced back to famous gods and goddesses. Of course, as much as I wish cyclops (I’d imagine they make an interesting friend), they’re all just stories made up by bards (ancient Greece professional story teller). For example, the famous Odyssey actual follows one bard as he or she travels exchanging stories/entertainment for foods and shelter. It’d be interesting to follow the location in the Odyssey in real life. Who knows maybe Poseidon can introduce me to Aqua Man.
Piece of gear or clothing you cannot live without?
My old green winter coat. It got so many pockets inside and out!!!! I can hide so many snacks and it matches with all the clothes I own.
What do you do in your free time?
I practice drawing, sculpting, and going hiking. Sitting down in silence, listening to the wind as I sketch out my thoughts is the best way for me to wind down and relax. Nature’s beauty and purity is my best motivation. I also enjoy taking naps under a shaded tree when I reached the peak of my hike.
Favorite local place to get outside?
The Marina in Norwich. I like to go every day after my shift/class to debrief myself from the day.
