Editor’s Note: In March of 2018 Brian Duggan left Connecticut for Georgia to spend the next few months hiking north bound on the Appalachian Trail. His parents saw him off at Springer Mountain, GA as he embarked, by himself, on the 2190.9 mile journey to Mt. Katahdin in Maine. Pretty quickly he met up with a group of others that he would go on to hike most of the trail with. He was also given a trail name, Sublyme. The following are excerpts from the journal he kept along the way. If you haven’t yet read about how Brian got ready for his Appalachian Trail thru-hike you can read about it here.
